Metabolic Syndrome in Obese Children—Clinical Prevalence and Risk Factors

The prevalence of childhood obesity is increasing worldwide. Some obese children can go on to develop metabolic syndrome (MetS), but exactly who among them remains be determined. aim this study was indicate predisposing factors for syndrome, especially those that modified. comprised 591 aged 10–12 years. They were all Caucasian residents Gda?sk, Poland, with similar demographic backgrounds. Clinical examination, anthropometry, biometric impedance analysis, blood tests (including oral glucose tolerance (OGTT) and insulinemia), dietary physical activity evaluation conducted. results our show the risk MetS or any its components include male sex, parental (especially paternal) obesity, low body mass at birth, as well omitting breakfast dinner. There are few both in adults children. these predictors modified, relation lifestyle. Identifying then influencing may help reduce development consequently improve health quality life.
